"I began studying the technique as a result of intense back pain. The pain was very incapacitating, and at one time kept me in bed for days. At the time, I was only 19 years old. The specialists I went to suggested surgery as the only option, and I was determined to make that a final option. I began taking lessons in the Alexander Technique, twice a week, for the duration of my college years. The improvements in my health were enormous. The technique gave me the tools to better care for myself, and the benefits I experienced were not limited to my back pain. I also began to notice that my moods improved, and my general outlook on life changed quite a bit. The idea that choice exist in every moment is truely life altering. I decided to train in the Technique because its lessons were those I valued most in my life. I wanted to share this with others, and continue to grow myself." |
